Abstract

This study applies Foregrounding Theory to Richard Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game, focusing on linguistic deviation and parallelism to explore themes of violence, morality, and survival. Using examples of lexical, syntactic, phonological, and semantic deviation, along with repetition and structural parallelism, the analysis reveals how Connell’s stylistic choices heighten suspense and challenge moral boundaries. The findings underscore the role of language in deepening thematic impact and demonstrate the value of Foregrounding Theory in literary interpretation and stylistic analysis.
